Easy and Intuitive Mapping (Tagging) The most labor-intensive part of XBRL filings (at least the first time around) is the process of mapping line items in existing financial tables to or other tags. Also called tagging, this may additionally involve the creation of an to accommodate line items for which no standard tags exist. EDGARxbrl™'s dual-window (see screen shot below) provides the easiest-to-use and most intuitive tagging mechanism in the industry. Financials in just about any format can be tagged - Excel spreadsheets, Word tables, Quattro Pro or WordPerfect files, MS Works documents, web pages, etc. What's more, once your financials have been tagged, the mapping is reused in future filings even if the source of the financials changes. In addition, EDGARxbrl™ can use mapping produced by other sources. It can even recreate the mapping implied in an existing SEC filing irrespective of the software that the filing was produced with. Thus it can create a mapping to serve as a starting point, which you can then fine-tune for your requirements. Unlike many other products where mapping is tied to a source program and version (e.g., Excel 2003), EDGARxbrl™ won't stop working if you upgrade your Microsoft Office or switch to a different environment. The mapping capability in EDGARxbrl™ is entirely self-contained and fully integrated into the package, irrespective of the source of the financials. |
